Re: gold lunar
you can find them at several places. IMHO I would not be selling gold lunars. They are now being sold for around bullion prices and these sets are going to be highly prized and will sell for a very nice premium in time. I have spoken with several dealers that are making sets and not selling them just for that reason. Edition 2 will will not be completed until 2017 so series one is only going up.

I'd would be hard pressed to sell my gold lunars, it would be very hard to ever put a set together again. |
Re: gold lunar
It's weird but the lowest mintage coin is the ox, and it's still pretty easy to get cheaply. That makes me think the limiting factor isn't people making sets, but people holding the popular coins like the dragon and horse (both of which have the highest mintage each being over 2x more common than the ox). I suppose a set of 12 one oz gold coins is just too much for most people so I dunno if sets will ever really take off compared to just getting a dragon or a horse. If it ever reaches the point where making sets is the limiting factor the price on the rarer coins like the ox should show it and so far that is a long way from happening. It might never happen.

Re: gold lunar
People are holding those coins so that people need to pay them to make thier sets lol... They also know that people will fall into the trap of paying those high prices. The prices you quoted above are accurate for the dragon which falls around 1500. However, the otherr coins can be bought for around 980 now. The horse falls around 1100. I have almost 5 1/4 oz sets and they are the lowest mintage by far and most difficult to find.. 1/4 ounce lunars (the most difficult to find)and many other sizes are being held by like 4 major dealers in the US and they are trying to set the market price for them. They are hoarding them to make sets and several people said that they may start to sell them this fall to make big profits. Why??? becasue of the Chinese olympics and the focus on the chinese lunar calendar. As set 2 takes off, set 1 will greatly increase. You are paying little numi value now if you look at the right places and make a few connections. Ebay is overpriced unless you use your discounts. If spot drop to 800 the numi value of these set will hold for the price they are today. Nice insurance if you ask me. Ohh, and don't the sets in display cases look pretty :)

Re: gold lunar
Not sure if you are still after Lunar coins but I have a few in my possession and I get new ones fairly regularly. I normally have the 1 Ounce gold and the 1 Kilo Silver coins.
The First series 1996 to 2007 will continue to rise due to their scarcity. The number of these coins will continue to decrease as they melt down the coins that are not of good condition. Any question please let me know. Steve |
Re: gold lunar
there isnt a tremendous amount of 1 oz gold lunars on ebay for some reason.
maybe they are rare. |

Re: gold lunar
Be sure you are looking at completed auctions, and not buy-it-nows, they are very distorted.
And this recent price spike just about emptied ebay of auctions, yesterday I looked and there were only a handful of auctions on any gold/silver lunars, and the buy-it-nows were at their usual 1.5-2x spot. May take a couple weeks to fill up again. |
Re: gold lunar
i was looking at present day auctions
http://search.ebay.com/search/search...=34%26fsoo%3D2 not many and not sure if that represents low supply or lack of demand. |
